DEFORM/REFORM

These works on paper examine systems of structure and their transformation through interruption. Each begins within a fixed numerical sequence, repeated line by line in 0.5 centimetre squares, rendered in ink or pencil. The process is precise, methodical, and enduring, guided by rules that hold until the inevitable moment of miscount. This subtle deviation becomes a point of renewal, allowing the pattern to deform and reform, finding rhythm again within its altered state.

The resulting surface is both trace and record: a map of endurance and fallibility. Through the slow act of drawing and threading, structure and disruption coexist, revealing how instability can generate new forms. The threads hold tension against the paper, and within this exchange lies a reciprocity of control and release, where disruption becomes a generative force rather than a failure of the system.
