A System of Melodic  Reminders

A System of Melodic Reminders marks one of the first iterations of the large-scale paper sculptures shaped through the transformative force of water. Following a strict geometric sequence, grids were mapped with ink and stitched with cotton thread across the surface of the paper, establishing an ordered framework that was later released through immersion. As water met thread and fibre, the structure loosened and shifted, forming an undulating surface that reflects both control and surrender.

Dyed by hand with water, tea, and natural pigments, the paper carries a soft pink hue, a residue of its making. The scale mirrors that of the human body, the form resting on the floor like a trace of presence. The surface ripples gently, mirroring the currents that shaped it, as though the water continues to move within the fibres.

In this work, rhythm becomes material. The stitched grid transforms into a quiet topography of memory and motion, capturing the moment where order yields to transformation. Both delicate and deliberate, The System of Melodic Reminders embodies a state of suspension, a reminder that structure, once released, can hold the memory of sound, movement, and touch.
